The newest controller mappings for Traktor Pro 2. Aug 30, 2018  TRAKTOR is a hardware and software mixing solution that offers DJs a wide range of solutions for spinning at the club, at home or any other venue. Each TRAKTOR product contains T2 Technology providing power and simplicity in both their software and associated hardware.

Digital DJ Tips reader Perry writes: “I use Traktor Pro 2 to DJ with, alongside my Kontrol S2 controller and laptop, and while DJing I find it hard to easily vary the effects I can use. If I’m honest, the S2 just doesn’t give me enough options for controlling effects within Traktor. So I am writing to you today to asking if there are any external controller units that integrate with Traktor and allow for you to have more control over what you are doing?”

Digital DJ Tips says:

Because Traktor can be Midi mapped, you can add pretty much any Midi controller you like to it in addition to your S2, to control pretty much anything you like about it! So adding a Midi unit to use as a Traktor effects controller is perfectly possible. I’d definitely recommend grabbing a copy of the book The Traktor 2 Bible to demystify mapping, but if you’re prepared to roll your sleeves up, this is all possible.

For instance, you could add an Allen & Heath K2 and use it just for effects (the sound card would be redundant, admittedly), or even something bigger. But rather than double-guess your options, I’d like to throw this one over to the readers.

  Traktors effects are locked, and it doesn’t natively support vst’s… you can however use a program like JACK to wire the sound into a DAW like ableton to use more effects… The other two options you have that support VST’s natively are VDJ and Torq… I believe Torq can run VSTi’s however VDJ can only run standard VST’s.

  VSTi’s are more indepth higher quality effects but most cost more than any dj software on the market. VST’s are more basic and not a processor hungry, but there is hundreds of free ones on the interweb.

  I have traktor and feel like it has come eqipped with the right amunt of effects. Have you tired using them if different wys/ comnbinations and mappings? Example ean golden has a good mapping for the s2 and s2 where the jog wheels control some effect presets and you can create “super combos”. Good for building tension and energy in a mix.

  There are almost endless combinations of FX in Traktor, you should never tire of those!
